About the subject:
Environmental
engineering science is a multidisciplinary field of engineering science that
combines the biological, chemical and physical sciences with the field of
engineering. This major traditionally requires the student to take basic
engineering classes in fields such as thermodynamics, advanced math, computer
modeling and simulation and technical classes in subjects such as statics,
mechanics, hydrology, and fluid dynamics.
Topics to
be covered in this seminar:
Environment – Concept of an Ecosystem – Structure and Function of an Ecosystem – Producers, Consumers And Decomposers- Oxygen Cycle And Nitrogen Cycle – Energy Flow in the Ecosystem – Ecological Succession Processes –Biodiversity – Biogeographical - Biodiversity: In-Situ And Ex-Situ Conservation Of Biodiversity. - Pollution -Nuclear Hazards- Environmental Biochemistry Proteins – Biochemical Degradation Of Pollutants - Bioconversion Of Pollutants– Urban Problems Related To Energy – Water Conservation, Rain Water Harvesting, Watershed Management –Environment Production –The Biomedical Waste - Central And State Pollution Control Boards- Disaster Management – Family Welfare Programme – Human Rights – HIV / AIDS – Women And Child Welfare –Environmental Impact Analysis (EIA)- GIS.
